Blind Immortals: Lumukanda’s Vision
In this campaign, we further expanded the notions of Collection 2.
– We remind man of his pure essence and his significance in the grand scheme of things.
– We shot the campaign at a park, as the site is tranquil in its entirety — very plain and pure.
– This is ideal for the man we envision:
One who knows his true nature,
Realizing the oneness of creation and man’s place in it.
NO BEGINNING, NO END.
We are all immortal in some absurd way.
This brings us back to the title.
– Lumukanda is a significant figure in Nguni mythology. He is a god who has many lives, but one life he is known for is when he is a blind immortal.
– We play with that idea as we speak of his “vision” — even though he cannot physically see. But we can see — not superficially, but in an enlightened way, realizing that we are all immortals in some form.
This campaign visually echoes that — the return to the essence, which is the light, the elements, and nature.
– We intentionally blurred out some images to represent a sense of “self-forgetfulness,” but later, they become clearer to symbolize a return to self and awareness.
